피아노 웬디 첸
피아니스트 웬디 첸은 15살에 지휘자 앙드레 프레빈과 로스앤젤레스 필하모닉과의 무대를 통해 데뷔하였다. 그는 미국 내셔널 쇼팽 콩쿠르와 영 콘서트 아티스트 오디션에서 우승하였으며, 길모어 영 아티스트상을 최초로 수상하고, 미국국립예술기금위원회의 대통령 장학생으로 임명되기도 하였다.
독주자로서나, 실내악 연주자로서나 세계적인 주목을 받고 있는 첸은 전설적인 음악가인 아트 가펑클과 제임스 테일러의 작품에 함께한 적이 있으며, 아너러블 루스 베이더 긴즈버그 협회 주최로 미국연방대법원의 법관들을 위한 독주회를 가진 바 있다. 또한 보스톤 팝스 오프닝 나이트와 미국 스폴레토 페스티벌, 케네디 센터, 잔켈 홀, 포비든 시티 뮤직 페스티벌 등의 세계적인 극장과 축제를 아우르며 연주 활동을 이어나가고 있다.
그는 첼리스트 스테판 케이츠와 안드레스 디아즈, 카터 브레이, 바이올리니스트 제임스 에네스, 김지연, 엘리나 베헬레, 앤 아키코 메이어즈와 일본 쓰나미 추모 음악회를 포함하여 지속적으로 협연을 해나가고 있다.
웬디 첸의 연주는 미국공영라디오에서 주기적으로 소개되고 있으며, 그녀는 현재 미국 전역에서 마스터 클래스와 강의를 진행하고 있다. 또한 미국국립예술기금위원회의 패널리스트로도 활동 중이다.
Piano Wendy Chen
Wendy Chen debuted with the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the age of 15 under conductor André Previn. She won First Prize in the National Chopin Competition, the Young Concert Artists auditions, was an inaugural recipient of the Gilmore Young Artists Award, and was named a Presidential Scholar by the National Foundation for the Arts.
Ms. Chen is one of the most sought after pianists and chamber musicians, performing on many of the world’s most prestigious concert stages. She has appeared in unique programs that also featured musical legends Art Garfunkel and James Taylor, performed in a private concert for The Justices at the US Supreme Court presented by The Honorable Ruth Bader Ginsburg, at the White Oak Conservation Center, and in an all Chopin recital at the National Philharmonic Hall in Warsaw, Poland.
Other highlights have included opening night with The Boston Pops, Spoleto USA tours, appearances in South America, Finland, New Zealand, at The Kennedy Center, Zankel Hall, The Forbidden City in Beijing, and at Festival Week in Tokyo, presented by CHANEL. Also, she has given numerous recitals with cellists Stephen Kates, Andrés Díaz and Carter Brey, violinists James Ehnes, Chee-Yun, Elina Vähälä, and Anne Akiko Meyers, with whom she also gave a special benefit concert for Japan tsunami relief.
Ms. Chen’s performances are regularly heard on NPR's Performance Today. She gives masterclasses and lectures throughout the US, and serves as panelist for the National Endowment for the Arts.
