첼로 홍은선

2014년, 한국인 최초 조르주 에네스쿠 국제 콩쿠르에서 우승한 첼리스트 홍은선은 2002년 금호아트홀 영재콘서트로 데뷔하였다. 국내에서 정명화 교수, 정선이를 사사하며 예원학교 수석 졸업, 서울예고 수석 입학, 명예 졸업 후 스페인 바르셀로나에서 3년 동안 루이스 클라렛 교수에게 사사하였고 이후 도독하여 프란스 헬머슨 교수의 문하에서 쾰른 국립음대 학사 졸업, 베를린 한스 아이슬러 국립음대 석사 및 최고연주자과정을 졸업하였다. 

일찍이 이화 경향 콩쿠르, 바로크 콩쿠르 등 다수의 콩쿠르에서 1위를 수상하여 국내 음악계의 주목을 받았으며 국제 청소년 차이코프스키 콩쿠르 2위, 가스파르 카사도 국제 콩쿠르 3위, 펜데레츠키 국제 콩쿠르 2위 등 세계 유수의 명문 국제 콩쿠르에서 입상하였고, 크론베르크 첼로 페스티벌에서 잉그리드 추 좀스 문화상을 수여받아 실력을 인정받았다. 첼로의 거장 로스트로포비치의 타계를 기리기 위해 기돈 크레머, 나탈리아 구트만, 린 하렐 등 세계적인 대가들이 발매한 음반에 홍은선의 독주가 실렸으며, 프란스 헬머슨, 트룰스 뫼르크 등 세계 굴지의 연주자들과 함께 '펜데레츠키의 여섯대의 첼로를 위한 샤콘느'를 세계 초연하였다. 

베를린 콘체르트하우스, 런던 위그모어 홀, 바르셀로나 팔라우 델라 무지카, 제네바 빅토리아 홀 등 유럽 유명 홀에서 연주하였고, 서울시향, 도쿄 필하모닉, 베니스 라 페니체 극장 오케스트라, 러시안 필하모닉, 핀란드 쿠오피오 심포니, 코리안 챔버 오케스트라 등 국내외 유수 오케스트라와 협연하였다. 또한 평창 대관령, 카잘스, 에네스쿠, 라벨로, 피아티고르스키 등 국제 페스티벌에 초청받아 연주하였고 2018년 드레스덴 모리츠부르크 페스티벌과 비엔나 무직페라인에서 열린 '2018 평창 동계 올림픽 갈라콘서트'에 초대되어 연주하여 유럽 청중들의 큰 호응을 얻었다. 또한 작년 낙소스 레이블에서 발매된 에네스쿠의 실내악 음반이 그라모폰 매거진 등 해외 평론가들의 호평을 받았을 뿐 아니라 국제클래식음악상(ICMA) 후보에 오르기도 했다. 

현재 독주와 실내악 연주활동 뿐만 아니라 연세대, 숙명여대, 예원학교, 서울예고에 출강하는 등 후학양성에도 힘쓰고 있다. 홍은선은 1710년 산 카를로 쥬세페 테스토레 첼로를 연주하고 있다.
 

Besides winning the first prize at the International George Enescu Cello Competition 2014 in Bucharest, Eun-Sun Hong has won top prizes at numerous renowned International Competitions, such as the Penderecki Cello Competition 2013 in Krakow (2nd prize), the Gaspar Cassado Cello Competition 2006 (3rd prize) and the Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians 2004 (2nd prize). She has also been awarded “El Primer Palau 2006” by the historical concert hall of Barcelona, Palau de la Música Catalana.

In 2007, Eun-Sun Hong was awarded the Ingrid zu Solms Kulturpreis by the Countess Ingrid zu Solms-Wildenfels during the Kronberg Festival. Eun-Sun Hong gave her first public recital at the age of thirteen at the Kumho Art Hall in Seoul and since her debut with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra in 2003, she has given recitals and concerts throughout Europe, Korea and Japan.

She has performed as soloist with international orchestras, such as the Orchestra Filarmonica della Fenice di Venezia, the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra, the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Russian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Kuopio Symphony Orchestra, the National Orchestra of Andorra, the Korean Chamber Orchestra and the Minsk Chamber Orchestra, to name few of them. She has given concerts in such prestigious concert venues as Konzerthaus in Berlin, Musikverein Wien, Victoria Hall in Geneve, Wigmore Hall in London, Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest, Palau de la Musica Catalana in Barcelona, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, Lotte Concert Hall, KBS (Korean Broadcasting System) Hall and Seoul Arts Center.

She has performed at such international festivals as the Ravello Festival in Italy, Moritzburg Festival, Kronberg Festival in Germany, PyeongChang (Great Mountains) Music Festival in Korea, Casals Festival in Spain and “Open Chamber Music” Festival in Prussia Cove, England. In 2015, Eun-Sun Hong has world-premiered Maestro Krzysztof Penderecki’s “Ciaccona for six cellos” with Frans Helmerson and Truls Mørk among others at the Kronberg Festival in Germany. Born in Seoul in 1989, Eun-Sun Hong started to play the cello when she was nine years old. She was taught by Myung-Wha Chung in Seoul and by Lluis Claret in Barcelona at the Escola Municipal de Música Victoria dels Angels and has completed her Bachelor at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne and Master and Konzertexamen at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin, both studying with Frans Helmerson.

Her live performance of the “Improvisation” by Alfred Schnittke during the Kronberg Cello Festival has been released on the CD “Celebrating Slava!” in remembrance of Mstislav Rostropovich by the German label Günter Hänssler in 2008.
