서울시유스오케스트라, 오케스트라

  젊은 음악인들의 열정적 하모니, 대한민국을 대표하는 유스오케스트라
  서울시유스오케스트라는 엄격한 오디션을 거쳐 선발된 단원들로 이루어진, 120명 4관 편성의 오케스트라이다. 1984년 우수 음악영재 중·고등학생으로 구성된 서울시립소년소녀교향악단으로 출발하여 1994년 서울시청소년교향악단으로 개명하면서 대학생 단원들을 대거 영입하여 명실상부한 오케스트라로서의 기틀을 마련하였다. 2007년 10월 서울시유스오케스트라로 명칭을 새로이 개정하고, 미래의 대한민국 음악계를 이끌어갈 재능 있는 젊은 음악도 들의 열정적인 활동으로 오늘에 이르고 있다.

  1987년 88 서울올림픽을 축하하기 위해 마련된 미국 하와이 초청공연을 시작으로, 1991년 뉴욕 카네기홀 10주년 초청 연주, 일본 정부 초청 3개 도시 순회연주, 1996년의 일본 순회공연, 2008년 베이징올림픽기념 심양 초청공연 등 해외에서도 활발한 연주활동을 펼쳐 미국의 뉴욕타임즈와 일본과 중국의 여러 언론의 주목을 받았다. 2003년에는 일본 도호음악원과의 음악 교류 활동을 통해 한.일 젊은 연주자들이 서로의 기량을 나누고 보여주는 한일 문화 만남의 기회를 마련하기도 했다.

  연간 20여회 이상의 클래식 음악을 공연하는 서울시유스오케스트라는 다양한 공연을 통해 예술적 기량 향상과 음악적 이해를 더해가며, 한국은 물론 세계의 클래식 무대에서도 손색없는 대한민국 대표 유스오케스트라로 자리매김해 가고 있다. 현재까지 배출된 1000여명의 단원들은 국내외 음악계에서 두각을 나타내며 각 교향악단의 주요 연주자로 훌륭하게 활동 하고 있다.

  The passionate harmony of young musicians, a youth orchestra representing Korea

  The Seoul Metropolitan Youth Orchestra is composed of 120 members in four sections that are selected via a strict audition process. The orchestra started out as the Seoul Municipal Junior Philharmonic Orchestra in 1984 with members comprised of outstanding musicians from middle and high schools, changed its name to the Seoul Metropolitan Youth Philharmonic Orchestra in 1994 to lay a foundation as an orchestra by selecting a number of university students, and to the Seoul Metropolitan Youth Orchestra in 2007 to raise talented young musicians who will lead the future of Korean music. Beginning with the 1987 Hawaii invitational concert that was prepared to celebrate the 1988 Seoul Olympics, the 1991 invitational recital for the 10th anniversary of Carnegie Hall in New York, a tour concert in three Japanese cities as invited by the Japanese government, a concert in Japan in 1996, the Sunyang invitational concert to celebrate the 2008 Beijing Olympics as well as other performances. Attention was drawn from the New York Times and several media outlets of Japan and China.

  In 2003, through the exchange of music with the Doho Music Institute of Japan, it presented an opportunity for meeting culture between Korea and Japan, sharing and showcasing the mutual abilities of young musicians in each country. Performing more than 20 classical music pieces on an annual basis, the Seoul Metropolitan Youth Orchestra improves its artistic ability and adds musical understanding to take the position of a youth orchestra representing Korea. The approximately 1,000 members that have been involved to date are distinguishing themselves both in and out of the country and are highly involved in philharmonic orchestras as main performers.

  With the passion and spirit of young musicians who love classical music plus differentiated planning and operation, the Seoul Metropolitan Youth Orchestra continues to move forward.
